Conservation Loses Out to Global Warming Panic
A global food crisis looms, as crops are diverted to biofuels. Food prices have soared 83 percent in three years. Thousands of U.S. farmers are pulling their land out of the government’s biggest conservation program to plant millions of acres back to crops and pasture. U.S. environmentalists warn that “years of conservation progress” will be lost as America’s 35-million-acre Conservation Reserve dwindles, especially in the important bird-nesting areas of the northern Great Plains.
Global grain shortages are spreading. The World Food Program says it must abandon some of the drought-stricken hungry. U.S. hog farmers are quietly asking their veterinarians how to euthanize their baby pigs, corn prices have risen so high they’d bankrupt their families trying to feed the pigs to market weight. Liberal Hate Speech May Doom Dems' Election Hopes
First it was Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s expletive-laced sermons and anti-Semitic rants that plunged the Obama campaign into full damage-repair mode. Then Barack triggered an uproar when he remarked about down-on-their-luck voters, “And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them.”

A Culture of Corruption: The News Media
During a segment of Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor, former CBS TV newsman now media critic, Bernard Goldberg, stated clearly and consisely, “The news media are corrupt.” His fellow guest Jane Hall, formerly of the L.A. Times and now a respected journalism professor concurred.
They were lamenting the fact that by and large the members of the Fourth Estate were in the bag for Democrat president candidate Senator Barack Obama. In fact, it’s almost sickening how the denizens of America’s newsrooms go out of their way not to cover stories that would be covered if Obama were a conservative Republican. Full Piece

Some might assert that everything - or nearly everything - apropos the Obama campaign, save for the careful manner in which he has employed his rhetoric has to do with the fact that he is black, due to the overall cultural climate in America. Full Piece

Every time her campaign hit a rough spot, Hillary Clinton has artfully played the role of defender of the downtrodden or misty-eyed damsel-in-distress. But the sympathy vote began to tire of that routine. So now Mrs. Clinton has taken on a new role: Mother Superior.
First the Clinton campaign accused opponent Barack Obama of “plagiarism” for borrowing a couple lines written by Massachusetts governor Patrick Duvall. A close friend of Obama, Duvall was flattered by the move, but Hillary was ready to haul out the rope noose. Full Article

Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming - Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile—the list goes on and on.
No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. NBC: Palestinians, A 'Victim' Of Their 'Environment'
Martin Fletcher, NBC News Correspondent and Tel Aviv Bureau Chief, has been known to hail Palestinians as “victims” before. He has also been known often to blame Israel for all the ills suffered by Palestinians, so Fletcher is an expert at assigning blame while excusing the behavior of Palestinians. Here is a story that fits in perfectly with Fletcher’s penchant for blaming everyone but the guilty party along with extolling the supposed victimhood of the Palestinians. Full Piece
Color Me Independent!
With McCain now the undisputed frontrunner and Huckabee running interference for him, seemingly making a play for a VP position on a McCain ticket, any conservative representation in the presidential race has been effectively neutered. (And that’s not to say I’m a big fan of Romney either!) The best we can hope for is to elect a right-leaning congress capable of and willing to override a veto so as to keep WHOEVER takes the White House from doing too much damage!
Some will paint McCain’s surge as heralding the death of the conservative movement; however this is not a repudiation of conservative thought. It is the result of the poor leadership of the GOP machine. As Ronald Reagan once remarked concerning his switch from the Democratic to the Republican Party, we didn’t leave the Party… the Party left us. Full Article
Gazans Get Gazumped - Again
The Moslem world has blown yet another opportunity to offer the 1.5 million Gazan Arabs hope for a better life and future by once again showing its total disregard for their welfare - preferring to play the political rather than the humanitarian game with potentially disastrous consequences for the Gazans.
This follows the absence of any attempt by the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) to keep the border between Egypt and Gaza open after it had been demolished by Hamas. This had taken place using the pretext of ending what the Arab League had called “a humanitarian crisis” - the refusal of Israel to supply fuel to Gaza in retaliation for the continued barrage of rockets and mortars being fired into Israel’s civilian population centers.
